The Framingham Public Library Homework Center is opening Monday September 8!

Happy first day of school all Framingham students! Want to get the year off to a great start? Visit the Homework Center at FPL, opening on September 8th! Want details? See all the great information written by the Homework Center below:

Information:

The Homework Center offers free tutoring and homework help to all Framingham students, elementary through high school. We will open on Monday September 8th and be open each Monday through Thursday from 2:30-5:30.

Students/parents can make appointments to be matched with a tutor for ongoing work. We also function as a drop-in center to provide academic support on an as-needed basis. Some of the students that we see are working to pass their courses. Some are honors students working to excel. We have many excellent volunteer tutors, computers, color printers, school supplies and snacks. Drop in any time and check us out. If you have any questions, please contact Judy Gatlin: jgatlin@minlib.net.

 Student Advisory Board

The Homework Center is run with the help of a Student Advisory Board with representatives from each of the middle and high schools that we serve. We meet on a monthly basis to discuss ways to enhance the Homework Center and its services. We also plan and facilitate events that raise the profile of both the Center and academics in Framingham. To date, we've run town-wide spelling and geography bees, a curriculum based scavenger hunt, holiday handcrafting workshops, warm clothing and book collections, fund-raising fashion shows etc...

Last year TD Bank recognized the Homework Center as a great program for kids. They invited our board (18 students) to see the Celtics vs. the Philadelphia 76ers game. We had a blast!

Serving on the Homework Center Student Advisory Board is a leadership and community service experience. We welcome new board members during September and October. Our September board meeting is slated for Monday 9/15 at 4:00.

Come and be inspired. We would love to have your participation and hear your ideas.
