World Book Online

Love World Book Encyclopedias?

Did you know that you can access even more features with the online version?

Click here, or on the World Book link on our Database page, to use the library's subscription from home!

You will find sections for Kids, Timelines, eBooks, the Info Finder, and a portal entirely in Spanish.

Kids

Kids have their very own portal on World Book, which they can access on desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.

They can explore maps, play games, read about important people, lookup science projects, compare animals, and browse pictures and videos.

Timelines

Older students might be interested in World Book's Timeline feature.

When preparing for a history test, print out a timeline to help keep facts straight so that you will be able to ace your exam.

Scroll in for a compact view, or scroll out to see hundreds of years all at once. You can also change the setting to see the timelines in a list view.

And, the timelines are customizable because you can even add your own events.

eBooks

World Book online has a great number of eBooks available.

No downloading required- just click for full-text and beautiful color photographs. Grade-level suggestions are included.

Info Finder

For more homework help, try World Book's Info Finder.

You will find lots of information including Biographies, links to online World newspapers, Science Projects, and more. Citations are automatically included for all sources.

You can save your work for later, print it out, or e-mail it to yourself.

World Book in Spanish

The online version of World Book also has a Spanish portal. Read about animals, art, science, history, people, and more. There are also links to magazine articles. Everything in this portal is Spanish-language.

If you have questions about World Book, ask us at the Reference Desk, call us at 508-532-5570 ext. 4361, or e-mail us. And if you'd like to use the print version, stop by the Children's Room to use the new 2015 edition (library-use-only.)
