It’s time to start thinking ahead to the changes in healthcare
coverage that will happen in 2014. The
Affordable Care Act (ACA) is a comprehensive federal health reform law that
expands health insurance coverage for U.S. citizens and legally present non-citizens, takes steps to control health care costs, and tries to improve the
way people get health services. For more information, see Affordable Care Act: The Health Care
Law and You from Healthcare.gov.
What is the Health Insurance Marketplace?
The Marketplace is designed to help you find health
insurance that meets your needs and fits your budget. The Marketplace offers
"one—stop shopping" to find and compare private health insurance options.
You may also be eligible for a new kind of tax credit that lowers your monthly
premium right away. Open enrollment for health insurance coverage through the
Marketplace begins in October for coverage starting as early as January 1, 2014.
All of the details about ACA health reform changes in Massachusetts are not yet final. The website, http://www.massresources.org/health-care-2014.html
outlines these likely changes for Massachusetts residents and how to prepare for them.
