2014 National Book Awards

The National Book Foundation presented the winners of the National Book Award for 2014 on November 19. The mission of the National Book Foundation and the National Book Awards is to celebrate the best of American literature, to expand its audience, and to enhance the cultural value of great writing in America.

Device Advice

Coming up at FPL! We will be hosting two hands-on workshops for how to use our newest digital resources- Hoopla and Zinio.

Hoopla is for downloading audiobooks, TV shows, movies, and music from the library, and Zinio is for downloading magazines from the library.

The workshops will meet during the following times:

Saturday November 29, 10:00am - Zinio
Saturday December 13, 10:00am - Hoopla

Please bring your tablet or smartphone if you have one. (And don't forget to bring your Apple ID username and password if you have an Apple device.)

If you can't home to the hands-on workshops, we offer Device Advice every Monday and Wednesday night from 6-9pm at the Reference Desk. Bring your device and we will be happy to get you started or answer any questions you have about Overdrive, Hoopla, or Zinio.

We also offer Device Advice by appointment if you cannot come during its regular hours. You can make an appointment online or call us at 508-532-5570 Ext. 4361. We will arrange to meet one-on-one during a time that is convenient with your schedule.

Yearbooks have been Digitized

Thanks to Boston Public Library and the Digital Commonwealth project, we are excited to announce that our Framingham High School yearbooks have been digitized and are available for viewing on the Internet Archive! Click here to access!

There are 84 Framingham High yearbooks in total, spanning from 1931-2012. Both North and South High schools are included for the years when there were two high schools.

You are allowed 5 check-outs per calendar month. Each movie, audiobook, TV episode, and music album counts as 1 check-out. (Yes that's right, you get the entire music album.) Demo Content does not count towards your check-out limit, so feel free to download these materials as much as you like.

Here is how long you can keep your borrows:

• Movies + TV episodes: 3 days
• Music albums: 7 days
• Audiobooks: 21 days

Mobile App

You can stream the materials on your computer, but there is also a Hoopla App so you can take your check-outs on the go. Download the Hoopla App from your mobile device's App or Play Store.
